Round 2 Formula Drift Road Atlanta Team Report

Round 2 Formula Drift Road Atlanta Team Report

Rhys Millen Racing - Huntington Beach, CA - May 9, 2011

On Wednesday, May 4, the streets of midtown Atlanta set the stage for the Red Bull Peachtree Battle. This event featured the Red Bull Hyundai Genesis Coupe with Rhys Millen behind the wheel drifting with fellow Red Bull driver Ryan Tuerck around Pershing Point - the intersection of Peachtree Street and West Peachtree Street. Both Millen and Tuerck made three passes through the busy streets, carrying passengers from CNN International and the City of Atlanta.

The Rhys Millen Racing/Hyundai Motorsports team came into the event at Road Atlanta with high hopes after a successful test the week prior. However, during the event, the engine began to experience an intermittent electrical issue that could not be resolved in time for qualifying. This forced the team to sit out the Saturday activities and instead focus on improvements for the next event at Palm Beach International Raceway. On Saturday, Rhys held an extended meet-and-greet session at the Hyundai display, signing autographs and interacting with the fans. The team plans to dedicate the rest of the May to an aggressive testing and development schedule.

Special thanks to Hyundai Mall of Georgia for loaning us the Red Genesis Coupe and to everyone for their efforts.

The RMR Team's next stop will be Round 3 Formula Drift Palm Beach International Raceway - Palm Beach, FL June 3-4 2011.

From my experience as sericve Manager with Hyundai Dealer since 2001, I can tell you that Accent it is the most reliable vehicle I have seen on the market. Low maintenance costs, the car with virtually no recalls, low in fuel consumption and high mileage drivenI have seen 95 Accents with over 220 miles and minimal repairs spending. From 95 since Hyundai brought Accent to American continent, it had only 4 minor recalls and 1 major (suspension related). Compare this to any other model and you will see the difference.Look at maintenance: do a tune-up-it will cost you up to $120. Compare with an expensive car like Toyota, Lexus, or any other one, not to mention V6 engine starting at least $250 to begin with.Only one advise: considering is an ex-rental, get someone to check the car bumper to bumper. Just in case Good luck with your decision.

Little kids are climbing out of cots ewrryvheee as soon as they can. Generally, friends of mine who have gone through that stage take it as an indication that it’s time they move into a big-boy/girl bed.I don’t think there’s that much CGI in there apart from the obvious surfing bits and sitting up on the bonnet at the end. Other criticism I’ve heard over the day is that kids that are a little older will get ideas from the ad say 10 year olds. It’s a little nanny-state-ish though because parents don’t take responsibility for what their kids watch nobody’s allowed to see it. I find this ad much less offensive than some of the SUV ads that went to air during the superbowl with the great big tank of a 4 4 driving up a big metal see-saw and skidding to a stop millimetres from a gorge with a drop of hundreds of metres. There’s a general nanny-state movement in this country at the moment, such as with the proposal that all of the Australian internet be filtered of any porn, which will have a massive effect on the speed of internet on all sites all over the country.I’m not outraged by the censorship of the ad it’s just an ad but it’s symbolic of trends in many aspects of life in this country.
